Twitter User Gets TV Deal for “Hilarious” Tweets

Those who think that Twitter isn’t worth spending ones time on should think twice about the 140 character micro blogging service, being popular on it and having your tweets go viral could land you a TV deal.

Justin Halpern, the man behind the “ShitMyDadSays” Twitter account landed a TV deal with CBS last week November 9, 2009. The Twitter sensation is now headed to another small screen, but this time on a TV console.

Mr. Halpern is a 29 years old writer who moved back in with his parents in San Diego. On August 3, he created the Twitter account “ShitMyDadSays” upon the advice of his friends. He wanted a permanent place for the “Hilarious” words of wisdom he collected from his father since childhood. Initially, the account only had 5 followers composed of his friends who knew about his father’s funny anecdotes and bluntness. Several months later, the account gets hundreds of followers every minute.

Book publishers noticed the Twitter shinning star first. Last month, Halpern sold “ShitMyDadSays” as a book to Harper Collins and last Monday, CBS picked it up as a new family comedy project, though it will change the title once it gets on air.

“Will & Grace” creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick are on board to executive produce and supervise the writing for the multicamera family comedy. Justin Halpern will co-write the scripts with Patrick Schumaker.

Warning: Justin and his dad use profane language. You must have guessed it already by the account name in Twitter.

This Is Where Internet Marketing Products Get A Little Quirky In My Opinion

A good marketer knows he’ll make the most money by giving people what they WANT and not what they need. Even the marketers behind Burger King… They know by coming out with a burger with 3 slabs of greasy beef, bacon, and cheese… that the burger really isn’t good for you at all. People don’t need to inject their bodies with that… BUT it’s what people want.

In internet marketing products I find the same thing… and this applies to you because the products that have the strategies and techniques within that’ll make you the most money are often not nearly as sexy as the top 10 IM products on ClickBank. It’s not that top products all suck—a bunch of them do though.

The marketing product graveyard contains a lot of the best products out there. They’re either products that didn’t sell that well or not at all. And the reason is I think, even though these products can give YOU what you need, they don’t match what people are looking for. So the marketer who created this incredible product says, “Well, that was my best product and worst $ I’ve ever made from a product launch. Let’s go make some videos on blogging because that’s what people are wanting info on.”

So, it’s frustrating! People who can’t seem to make a buck can’t seem to find the information that’s going to make them serious cash and grow an online business quickly. If that’s you, I truly feel for you. There’s no possible way for you to figure out which is the right direction to head with your business.

But I think it’s all because of the laws of marketing. Supply and demand. The best marketers with all the knowledge that you need are also the ones who know they’re going to make the most money by supplying the market with what it demands… so you don’t really get the best info.

So where do you get the “good stuff?” It can be found some in popular products, more in the marketing product graveyard, but mostly in mastermind groups and personal coaching. Personal coaching can cost an arm and a leg, and I’ve found it better to spend money on outsourcing and advertising. Masterminding with other marketers is where you’re going to find the “good stuff” though. Also, just observing and investigating marketing strategies used by top guys can clue you in on what’s most effective. And of course, you’re going to find it on this blog because I totally kick ass and don’t hold back!
