Can you ride the tiger?

Can you ride the tiger?

Have you ever heard that Pixies song “River Euphrates” from the Surfer Rosa album? That’s one of my favorite songs of theirs… so I decided to call this powerful internet marketing strategy Riding The Tiger. I’m not sure how many people are using this strategy, but all I can say is those who I’ve seen using it are making a small fortune.

The strategy is simple actually…

As you know, us seasoned marketers see all these major product launches over time. We see marketers who do major product launches promoting each other’s major product launches again, and again, and again. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with this. Joint Ventures are probably the most powerful thing you can do in business. And if you want to get in on promoting these major product launches, you can here no one tells you about this place because they don’t want you promoting what they’re selling you :)

You can make a lot of money promoting major product launches. The major products have a lot of competition, so you need a great bonus to compete. That’s not Riding The Tiger though.

You already know that when a major product is successful, the product creator and all his big time affiliates have gotten the marketplace to lick their chops over what strategy they should be using. A lot of people would like to have the product, but they don’t like the price. Some people were planning on getting it but never got around to it. …Even after a product launch is a success, there’s a fiery demand for the subject or type of product that successful major product is.

So let’s take a recent product launch… Affiliate Classroom 2.0. The marketplace is educated about affiliate marketing, they’re salivating over affiliate marketing knowledge, and they want to invest in an affiliate marketing related product.

If you’ve had success with affiliate marketing, you go create a similar product and sell it for less. You can even swipe the sales page (in a legal way) of the successful product. If you haven’t had success with affiliate marketing, you can interview people who are successful and sell those mp3s. You want to make sure whatever you sell actually works.

All you’re doing is cashing in on the market trend while it’s hot. Some internet marketers are making piles of cash doing this after every highly successful major product launch. Create a similar product + sell at a lower price = Riding The Tiger.

Do you ever Ride The Tiger?  Or do you plan on it now?
